Inspiration came from these fun little pops that Bakerella made:
It would be really hard to even possibly make these any cuter, but in my world, everything's better with a cupcake. :)
So, I transformed these babies into cupcake toppers.
I used mini M & M's and a fruit roll-up in our "school blue" to top off the Ghiradelli chocolate square "caps".
I highly recommend refrigerating the Reese's cups until they're really cold before peeling them. It was tough to peel the wrappers off without peeling off some chocolate along with them.
All in all, they turned out well, and our graduate loved them! :)
To make these Graduation Cupcake Toppers you'll need:
~ Mini Reese's peanut butter cups (one for each cupcake)
~ Ghiradelli chocolate squares (one for each cupcake)
~ Fruit roll-ups in your school colors (I got four tassels out of one roll-up)
- Mini M&Ms (I used the big bag found in the baking section)
-Chocolate chips to melt and use as "glue" to hold your topper pieces together
1. Slice the fruit roll-ups into quarters using a sharp knife.
Starting about 1/4 of the way from one end, cut slits in each roll-up all the way to the opposite end.
Roll to form a tassel.
2. Group the items for each topper...1 Reese's cup, 1 chocolate square, 1 tassel, and 1 mini M&M.
3. Melt a small amount of chocolate chips and pour into a heavy duty Ziploc bag.
Snip a tiny hole in the corner of the bag.
Using the chocolate as glue, squeeze it onto the Reese's cup, then top with a chocolate square.
Squeeze more chocolate to secure the tassel and M&M on top.
4. Center on top of each cupcake and enjoy! :)
